Does it have any other bolts on's with it? Water pump and crank pulley's? Starter? Those items also have letter/number codes that can make the package more valuable. The heads are the big ticket items and if in good shape might be the $3,000-3,500 range. Can you post some pictures for us to get an idea on its condition?

I will get some pictures. May have pulleys, will have to sort through box full of them.
What numbers am I looking for. No on the starter. Not rusty and crusty, just original grease oil. Bought a lot of Olds parts from a machine shop that is closing. Heads, blocks cranks, rods, one fresh never run 455 in correct color blue. Still going through parts.
Thanks

Congrats on the parts find. The D heads may be the only thing you have that's W30 specific. The 1968 400 was used on all 442's and some Vista Cruisers. Not super common but not high dollar parts. The price is somewhat dependent on your part of the country, what's available there. In my area the core 400 G block and parts less heads would be $350-400.
If you do get to the point of selling off parts you got I'd encourage you to have them hot tanked and magged first, then you can say for sure they're crack free. Many engine parts are heavy and if shipped very far that shipping cost is a big part of the total price. Once they get there if the buyers machine shop find a crack or flaw that can create a real headache.
You can create a parts for sale thread with photos, descriptions and also please include your location, city/state/province as that can help potential buyers have an idea what shipping will add.
Oh, and welcome to the site!
