New Front Fender Patch Panel - FREE to right person ***GONE***
OK Folks, I have a NEW Sherman brand (USA) quality steel patch panel that I purchased from Summit Racing but never used. I ended up replacing the fenders instead.
This panel is for the passenger side, FRONT fender, behind the wheel, in front of the door.
Here's the link to the Summit ad if you want to check it out to see if it will fit your 1970-1972 Cutlass / 442.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...oaAkC3EALw_wcB
I want to give it away FREE to someone who can use it to restore their car, not resell it.
All I ask is that you pay $15.00 towards shipping . Sorry, but I will only ship within the 48 Continental U.S. states.
***Whoever replies back to this post first with a picture of the problem area on your car gets it. You can pay me the $15.00 towards shipping by Paypal, check, or money order.***
I hope this can help someone out there get one step closer to your resto!

Patch panel
hi Doug. I realize this is an old thread but was wondering about using a patch panel instead of complete fender replacement. I have one bad area on the left fender under the numbers. The rest of the fender is solid and they are gm factory replacements. Do you know if the fender has to be removed to weld it into place or can it be cut and welded on the car. Any input would be very helpful. Thanks Alan

I usually weld the patch panel with the fender still on the car. This eliminates any distortion an unsupported fender might have. Once it is tack welded in then you can remove the fender and finish hammer welding to keep filler use to a minimum and to allow for proper finish of the fender backside (2-part epoxy is the good stuff).

thanks bry, good advice.some friends were telling me to get to get a new fender but these are gm replacements and its only the bottom three inches that have an issue, the rest is solid (as far as i can tell) and the right side has no issues. i will investigate my options but probably go your route. thanks again Alan

Hi 35, thanks for the info. Please keep me posted on your progress. My fenders both have the crumple zones so are not original but when you look down through the door hinge area you can see genuine GM parts stickers on both sides. I guess whoever put these on 20+ years ago didn’t bother to prime the insides. I will Also check out chl auto for the panel. Thanks again Alan
