Stash of Oldsmobile parts being cleaned out
Hello to the forum. I was given a tip by a friend of mine about a fellow who purchased a property, on which there is a large old barn stuffed full of Oldsmobile vehicles and related parts. I'd say the ages run from the late '60's up to the mid-80's at least. There are many engines, and body parts. Here is an excerpt from a note I wrote to Allan R last evening:
Just to let you know, I visited a place today which a fellow purchased, and on this farm is an old barn packed right full of mostly Oldsmobile stuff - and some Chevy truck parts. He gave the old owner a month to remove the parts, he has not, so now the new owner is liquidating the parts. I even saw two nice '69 doors go away to a new home. I would need days to sort through it all in all honesty, and there were a decent amount of people rolling out Super Stock wheels, doors, you name it out of there. But there seems to be a plethora of stuff there,... I will post a message on the forum Sunday with pictures of the place, and links to movies I will be loading up. There are a plethora of engines, transmissions (200-4r's too!), and complete cars, and Vista Cruiser boxed frame. I wish the group would go in there, and put the parts and cars into containers, it is a gold mine to be sorted through. One the stuff is gone, it will be so gone.
Please note there is absolutely no organization as to placement of parts, they were simply dropped 'here and there' as they were removed from vehicles. So finding that elusive part is indeed a pull of straws clenched fist. I was able to find some totally unexpected parts for the wagon.
The place is located in Southern Ontario, Canada, in Malahide, roughly 160 kilometers (100 miles) from my home in Burlington.
The fellow's name is John Wall, his number is 519-854-9677. If you do call, please do not ask if he has this or that, he does not know Oldsmobiles, only wants to get the parts and cars out of there, it is gracious he is at least allowing folks to go there to pick over parts. There are complete cars as stated, in the lower part of the barn, including several late 60-early 70's Cutlass models and a 68-69 Toronado. Looks like there is no engine in the Toronado.
I hope some good can come out of this for some folks in the forum. I, if asked a question, may be able to go over some of the movies I took to see if a part somebody needs MAY be there. One would need days to even try to inventory parts. Regards, Howie

Indeed I really hope this will be the case John, and the people doing so are true Oldsmobile folk, and not people grabbing parts in the hopes of making a 'killing' off those who really appreciate the cars.

This is a kind offer for the forum, it is nice to know a member lives within a reasonable distance to help out the membership. It would be interesting to know the history and story of how this collection of parts all came to be and were literally abandoned. Howie

Looks like this is a bit off the 401, not far from London, across the Lake from Erie, PA, so all you Hamilton, London, Toronto, Detroit, Toledo, and Buffalo people take note!
Looks like a cool find!

Totally correct on that one Eric. Though with the price of gasoline, folks will have to plan their trips wisely and hope to find that long lost part! I will say it is a pleasant drive in off traffic periods! Howie

I did see a few bolt on center types, not sure if they were 15-inchers, as they were being rolled out the door. There were several people filling up trailers full of parts. But I am sure the way things are so buried in there, and the amount of 'stuff' in there, not all stones have been turned yet. I may suggest to the forum that folks who can, get down there soon. I am not in any way knocking any soul, but I would be afraid of non-Oldsmobile people coming down simply to grab parts and then sell them for whatever they feel like to, and not for the love of the cars. I wish I could get back down there in a timely matter to get little bits and pieces forum members are asking for, but work/family commitments will not allow this for a few weeks I am afraid.

Hi Ted, yes, as of Saturday, there were a few in the lower level of the barn. There was one literally hidden away in a corner that took a bit of gymnastics (literally) to reach, a 1969 model that looked fairly complete. It was hidden beside/behind something partially stripped down from the '50's. behind the Toronado was another one too. And of course, the one in the field that can be seen in this movie:

It would be a very good idea indeed. And the sooner the better. The fellow, although not in a horrible rush, would like to see the parts cleared out. I think the barn will probably have to come down eventually. he is concentrating on the house for now, allowing people to go through the parts.
