Parting out 1963 Starfire Coupe
#9
The engine turns. I did a compression test this morning and the average pressure of the cylinders was 183 Lbs. Highest was 195 and the lowest was 175, so I am keeping it. The cylinder pressure varies less than the engine in the car that I am driving,

Here's what you need to strip off the car before junking:
--driver's side exhaust manifold, if it's the real long one
--rearend third member pumpkin (drop-out part), if it's either a posi OR if it's got 3.23 or steeper (3.42, 3.64, etc.) gears
--all Starfire-specific trim, inside or out
--bucket seats
--console
--any floor-shift stuff
--any manual tranny stuff
--any solid bumpers that are also mostly straight
--any solid/straight doors and fenders, particularly fenders
--aluminum thermostat housing (top waterneck), if solid
--aluminum timing cover, if water neck is solid
--water pump, if aluminum and not cast iron or pot metal

Also probably should strip off any curved window glass, 4bbl carb, steering wheel (if not cracked very much at all), good lenses, any other options you might find on the car, and-- if you have any room to store, save the tranny as well if it has the Starfire code on the tag.

I'll take them. Send me the details. Thanks!

All air conditioning parts are for sale. Last night I looked at what was involved to convert my car and it meant cutting up the firewall in 2 places, something that I don't want to do. Everything still has oil in it and the compressor turns freely.
