Olds Engine Stand for sale
This is an olds V8 (modern V8 - 64 and Up, 350, 455, 400, etc.) specific engine stand. It mounts to the 3 bolt holes on the side of the block (2 of them are the normal bolt holes for the engine mounts). I bought from a fellow Olds enthusiast 6 years ago. It has heavy duty casters as well. I think I paid $90. Still like new condition. $40 or offer plus shipping? I live near Albany, NY and could meet someone within reasonable distance if you want to pick up. I frequently go to Western, MA or down to Newburgh, NY or up to Lake George, NY area for business.

Actually all three are "normal bolt holes for the engine mounts". The front two are used on rear-steer cars (1964-1970 full size and 1973-74 Omega). All other models and years use the rear two holes. And of course Toros use these holes to hang the differential and RH axle plate.

Snooze you lose, just checkin in could have used that stand myself. Anyone got any leads for a similar stand similar price would be nice as well. And please don't say Harbor Freight. That place is gonna hurt someone with there made in China crap. I'd rather pay the freight than go to the Harbor. Maybe that should be on a t shirt.

A guy on ROP made a bunch of them seven or eight years ago. He called them Rocket Sleds or something like that. If you place a "wanted" post someone might sell one
here's a pic of it in action

Yes, that is who made them, a guy from ROP. Wow. Everyone apparently loves this stand! . I guess I took the "rocket sled" for granted all these years. I should have named it Bessie and hung over my fireplace instead of lingering in my garage and letting it go. LOL
damn. I should have followed superstition. " if you bring an umbrella, it won't rain". Now that I sold this stand, my luck, and my 455 is probably going to die and need to be pulled and rebuilt. If I kept it, the 455 would run forever. LOL.
I should have negotiated right of first refusal with Eric to buy it back if he ever decides to sell.

I got it tonight, and it looks great. 1" stock, I believe, though I didn't measure it.
Seems quite formidable.
Sure, but it may take a few days - things suddenly got very busy here today.
Pete, I'm happy to sell it back to you if I ever sell it, but, fair warning, I'm one of those guys who absorbs iron like a magnetic sponge, and very seldom lets any of it out.
Thanks again!

Engine Stand Drawing - Me too!
Eric, et al.,
I'd also love to have dimensions to make this stand! I actually will be needing one pretty soon, as my 330 is about ready to come home from machining and building. Even some pics with key dimensions added would do it for me. Thanks in advance!

That might be all there is to it, but also maybe not. I'd kind of like confimration on the size of the material, including wall thickness, plus length of the lower horizontal pieces, and the distance to the upright legs. I'd hate to make the thing and find out it likes to tip over.

I'm pretty sure as soon as Eric gets a chance he will post up the sizes for all of us, It does look like 2" tubing with 1/8 wall thickness. I myself would also like the lengths of each tube and dimensions of the 45 deg welds. As you say this will help for the stability factor, It would save many of us time grinding off weld and repositioning in the event the spacing is out.

I have two of the custom made Rocket sleds with the "Rocket" design laser cut on the side from Steve (442_rocket) that was selling them back in 2007. I have used them a few times.
I would be willing to part with both pairs for $125 shipped each since I am not using them anymore (no more engines around the shop and don't plan on any in the future).
They are used and have heavy duty casters on them.
PM me if anyone is interested

Sorry guys, got a run of overtime and the dog got sick, so I've been a bit busy.
Also, it's 5° out.
I expect I'll be able to give you proper measurements and photos over the weekend.

"Rocket Sled" Engine Stand Dimensions
Okay guys, here you go:
I'll let the drawing speak for itself. No reason to repeat what I already drew.
It's made of 1½" stock and sits on 3" casters. All angles are either 90° or 45°.
