LF9 Diesel 350 engine and trans
SOLD $300 USD
We stumbled upon a blue engine and trans in my grandfathers storage trailer. It has a sticker that says Oldsmobile 350 and my uncle remembers them having a diesel Oldsmobile. My grandfather always pulled anything worth saving out of his vehicles. I think its an LF9. The trans is still bolted to the engine. Pics to come this weekend, maybe sooner. I'm sure you guys can help me identify this engine further. Just putting this out there as a feeler. Negotiable in price. Engine/trans is located in Chester County, PA. Buyer must pick up.

So I don't actually see Oldsmobile anywhere on there. That goodwrench sticker says general motors on it. I couldn't find a number anywhere on the block. it does look just like my 71 350 gas tho. Pop pop had a lot of diesel trucks so it could have come out of anything.

My understanding is that the Goodwrench motors were simply OE Oldsmobile motors rebuilt by GM. I've never read clear info on this though. Here's a thread with some good info on the Oldsmobile diesel:

Well, technically, they were rebuilt motors branded and SOLD by GM. It's unclear who actually did the rebuilding. It definitely was NOT GM, since GM doesn't rebuild components, they build new ones.

I was trying to find an appropriate Goodwrench commercial from that era. Here's one from 1978. I wonder what the first year of the Goodwrench diesel 350 was?

Just to clarify my prior post, the GM Goodwrench branding was used on both brand new crate engines and on remanufactured engines. The brand new crate engines were made by GM. The reman engines were processed by a rebuilder and sold by GM. I don't know who that rebuilder would have been.
