so that date intake is the last with the complete "OLDSMOBILE" on it correct?
For those with cash this would be almost worth it to have as parts back up. Still a lot of money I know but a fair price for all of it.

So you found a restored 7040258 carb for $600 ?? wow
Really, that's great....wonderful.. great find ! I wonder if the seller knows what he sold ? Or let me guess...you have an Oldsmobile bond, and money isn't important. Sure....whatever works for ya...
Hey wait, after boasting you found your great deal, you forgot, "na, na na, na na"

resto cost in south Florida these days? :-) Can't spend a few bucks for one of "the" parts that make the car, but what's the resto cost? Love to see that bill.

Hey Doc,
Apperently you,and the rest of the Floridians don't check craigslist very much. There was an ad on there last summer for a complete 71 455,from a 442.The ad ran for a few weeks.A friend of mine decided to go take a look at it,after some weeks of curiousity. The guy lived off the beaten path, but he found it.The "engine" turned out to be a complete 71 W30 engine, complete & correct, with the OAI breather,carb,dist,intake,H-heads,etc.,and even had the OW TH400 attached. All for $200.00 TWO HUNDRED. Yes,true story.
The parts that Vader has on here are reasonable for 2013.They'd be more if it was 2005 or so.The fenderwells are not perfect, but real, and still very usable. The last set of NOS red fenderwells that I know of,sold for $4k,so the used ones might be more attractive to the wallet. If you are finding them cheaper, you better buy them.As these cars are getting restored, there are less parts available.
As for the intake date, early December/69 was the first run of the W30 intakes with OLDS W455.They still had the smaller heater hose port, and the 70 casting number. The last intake that I have seen with OLDSMOBILE W455 was dated late-November/69.
We should all get these cars done & sold before the day comes that nobody cares about them, and they become the next Model T.
Enjoy your day.

Just told Ron that last week! I give this hobby 5-10 more years then the bottom drops out. As the big collectors die off and the money dries up the prices will fall.
Im seriously considering selling my 69 W30 convertible in the spring. It got driven 4 times this summer. Seems a waste to even have.

oh come on guys, you're making me question it myself even more now. I drive my car a lot compared to most but wonder everyday if I'm leaving money on the table. I bought my car a long time ago with the intent of enjoying it, which I do. But it is worth way more now then ever and as mentioned maybe more than it will be. But... These are not Model T's or A's they are cars that can still be driven on modern highways, comfortably at speed. I'm guessing there will be a market longer than most think. I just wonder what will be the next push. The 73-77s or will it jump to the 90s. Guess we just highjacked the thread..... sorry

Hey, I'm disappointed to hear all you Olds guys talking about the demise of these fine looking and performing cars. I am a senior citizen and acquired my first Olds Cutlass S this year and decided at my age to get it done quick and enjoy it.........6-7 months and a considerable amount of money and it is in the 95% stage for me. Fun to drive, my adult children and their spouses and grandchildren love it. I live in So. California and I can't go anywhere without some one tooting the horn and giving a thumbs up or driving into a gas station and asking if it's for sale and it's an easy 75 miler on the freeway with the air on.........needless to say, it was a fun project and looks and runs great. By the way, I changed it to a 442 clone.
