Out of curiosity, is the black cap around the button how its supposed to be? The reason I'm asking, my '69 went through an interior color change but has the chrome cap. Everywhere I try to find replacements (thanks mice) all I see are the black.

Back to the related post..I may be interested in these. I need to see how much the engine bill is going to be first though.

The style pictured above was offered by gm from 1968 to early 72. Its probably the most common found in cutlass 442 of that era. Manufacturers were general safety or hammill.
There were also belts very similar, but with silver tops and black gm logo button

BrotherGood, the brushed nickel in your '69 is the Deluxe version. Plain Janes (non-Deluxe), such as ros is selling, have the plastic buckle covers.

The set pictured have GM painted metal covers--nothing plastic here. This how they came from GM.

No - those are not plastic buckle covers. They're also metal but with a texture/grain pattern stamped into the surface of the metal cover.

Exactly He plastic covers look different and were mostly made by Robbins for Chevelle and Pontiac--although I did have a 68 442 with Robbins
