1964 330 engine color

I am restoring a 1964 Cutlass and have a question about the engine color. I know the 330 is generally gold, but have seen cars with the red "Cutlass" air filter where the engine is also painted red. My car has the red air filter but the engine has been repainted black - I cannot tell what the original color was. So........ do I go with gold or red? Which was the factory color? Thanks for your help.

I THINK the 330 was gold or bronze with a red air cleaner. Red I believe was the 400 and the 425's color.

Wait until somebody else chimes in before placing that order as I'm not 100% sure

Yeah deffiantely gold for the 330 it is the factory color. 400, 403, 425 were Bronze in color through the 60s on. 455s are blue in color and late 70s through 90s all blocks were black.
