Hood Hinges

The phosphate is a chemical process, not paint. Here's an article on how to do it.

Just something to think about if you want to go about restoring your hinges a different sort of way. I took the springs off of my hinges and then bead-blasted both hinges and springs. I had a homemade tool that I used to remove the springs and keep them expanded so I could fully bead-blast them. Once blasted and cleaned, I primed them with Zero Rust grey. Then, I painted the hinges cast iron grey and the springs a Seymour paint called stainless steel. They have been on my '68 since 2007 and, although not the original finish, they still look great.
