Hood stripe info.
Hey guys. I'm about to shoot the hood stripes on a '70 442. Could someone provide the setback dimension from the leading edge of the scoops to the front of the stripes? I also need the stripe overall length. I'd really appreciate it.

Hood scoop stripes are set back 7/8 or 15/16" from the front edge of the scoops...take your pic. That's with the "hook" of a tape measure hooked onto/hanging onto the front edge of the scoop. And that's the measurement to the FRONT edge of the outer border stripe....obviously, the large "block" part of the stripe is further back than that.
Don't have overall length right now BUT the stripe ends are "angled" along the back....ie - they don't run straight across the car when viewed from the side. You will notice how the back of the scoops are angled and the stripe ends mimic that angle.

Very helpful. Thank you. Phoenix Graphix hood outer stripe and space dimensions are .050 narrower than the AIM. The AIM states outer stripe is .250 and the space is .150.

I understand your statement. I was trying to be helpful so anyone could see both for reference.
I have not measured the outer stripe width or the gap between the outer stripe and main stripe on my stripes that were just painted using Phionex stencil kit. It may not be “correct”. I will say that I spent a lot of time looking at several stripes and paying close attention to starting / stopping positions, corners, and the shape at the end during this years nationals; I think you would be hard pressed to see the difference.

I own a restoration business, perform photorealistic artwork and have a CNC background. .050 is an obvious difference. Did these stripes vary from the factory or were they set in stone? Other auto manufacturers adhered to the AIM .
