66 442 fender ornament...painted or black?

66 442 fender ornament...painted or black?
the fake air extractor ornament. I understand the very center is flat back to look like it's opened up, but what about the surrounding area? Body color or black?

The tapered/sloped area is body color and the rear/flat area is black. The only variations are,a dark body color has a silver flat area.
