1971 442 Striping Options
In 71 what was the striping options for the 442 with the W25 option? Is there details/dimensions for the striping anywhere? I want to get the stripes painted on my car and want to make sure they are correct.
Thank you,
John

There are no "options", only the single way the factory did it. Unlike every other 1970-72 442 that you will see, W-25 cars did NOT get the wide side stripes. All non-W-30 cars got the same narrow side stripes. W-25 cars got the wide panels on the hood, however. This should be in the PIM (assembly manual).

Not sure what you are asking. Again, a non-W 442 that came with W-25 from the factory got the same narrow side stripes as every other 442 and the wide panel stripes on the hood. Note that if W-25 was ordered on a Cutlass (not a 442), you ONLY got the hood stripes.
This car is correct:
This car is not correct (note it is not a W-30):
And this Cutlass Supreme is just pegging the meter...

Try these 2 links:

These from our low mileage original paint survivor convertible soon to be for sale. Note that the stripes are not pretty from the factory.

Sweet! Much appreciated!
I take it from all the sarcasm about the 71 442 OAI cars many of them have been fitted with W25 hoods. So what does that do to those of us who actually have an original W25 equipped car?
Thanks again,
John

ME?
Nahhhh....
Unfortunately, unless you can document that the car is an original, one will assume the hood has been added.
