62 cutlass Alum crossflow rad replacement

I’d like to drop a crossflow alum radiator in without paying $700 for a custom Griffin.Summit has a univ fit griffin at 24wx16h for $173 which looks pretty good but a little narrow, and a Griffin with trans cooler that shows dim at 26wx15.5H at $330 but I’m afraid it might be too tight a fit.

Has anyone done this and what did you use?

Thanks for the help.

Just finished doing all the fabrication to set up a HD cooling system in my Cutlass without having any of the F85 HD cooling components so went to available new stuff. Set up is as described earlier in this thread with 26×16.5″ crossflow 209567B (actual size was 25.75″) alum rad blank set up by Northern Factory with original style in/ outlets-petcock-temp bung-filler installed by Northern ran about $300 for the fabbed up rad. I modified the northern eng driven shroud blank, and used a D&D short pulley, Hayden 2765 fab clutch, and Flexlite 15″ fan clutch fan. Lower mounts copy downflow rad factory mounts-upper mount directs grill air to upper portion of rad at speed and for shroud pull Wouldn’t go this far with the Jetfires we are doing but may go to the smaller hub WP, short pulley, and fan clutch for dependability and accessibility to replaceable components when on a road trip. Clearance to rad from fan clutch is 3/8 to 1/2″ depending on how you set it up. No mods to the car itself and kept all orig parts of the orig basic system. Shroud is mocked up in picture and I am going to welder next week.

Looks great!

A little off subject but what master cylinder did you use for the dual line setup?

On the original subject, How much clearance do you have from the top of the shroud to the hood? I know the original setup rubs the hood insulation. Is this within the same height of the original cross flow?

Thank you. The MC is a 1980 Fairmont manual disc/drum. See my posting on the Jetfire site from Oct 15, Disc Brake Conversion-62 Cutlass.

Good clearance. A little more than orig I think. The top of Rad is about 17 and the shroud arc is 18.. I can put my hand over both when hood is closed,

Sorry, measurement is from the bottom sheet metal below rad/shroud to Rad and Shroud arc.
