1950 Olds

I pulled my '50 out of my storage barn a few months ago. Here is a couple of pic's. Pretty much stock except for a 350 OLDS w/T-350, stock rear w/3.64 gears. I haven't driven this car in 9 years. I've owned her since '68

Wow! Neato! When did you do the engine swap? Looks like the original paint too.

The car has had a few engines in its life. I did the 350 OLDS and trans in '79 and the paint and chrome in 1980. I've been into many other things and started drag racing and have been busy. This is an ongoing project. Now that I'm retired I think I will finish.

Nice car, my Brother had one in 1962,it was a stick-shift. I had a Great-Uncle that was retired from Ford but had bought a new 49 Olds fast-back "rocket" V-8. He drove down in the car once or twice a year. He lived in Dearborn, Mi. He and my Aunt would visit a bit then he would go outside, open the trunk and get his bucket and cloths and wash and clean that car. He never drove the car anywhere but for good, he took the bus to work. He died in 1968, I always wondered what happened to that car. It was green. I would love to get a 49/50 fastback. Later, Ken

Hey Gene,
How did you do your engine swap?
I have a '53 with a 303 and want to swap a 350 for it.
How did you manage the motor mounts, etc?
Any info you can give me would be great.
thanks,
Casey

Casey, I talked to Gene in the past and he mentioned that he used a universal motor crossmember from Summit. If you check their website I believe you can find it. This will fit under a modern drive train, then all you have to do is fabricate it to fit between the frame rails of your Olds.

that's good info Olds64.
Thanks for the reply.
Have you ever performed a swap like this? I'm fairly handy but I've never done anything this drastic.
thanks again.
