Need a favor from 61-63 f-85, cutlass owner
Can someone measure or tell me how deep (height) the gas tank is on a 62 cutlass convertible?
My car needs a new tank. The current tank is not the original tank. It is a poorly installed replacement. The repair shop is going to try to make another tank fit. They want to know how deep the original tank is.
If anyone has any information on a replacement tank, original or otherwise, I would appreciate the information.
Thanks
Joe

OK, the tank is not fully exposed (sits up in a void and I can not see to the top.. But if you measure from the frame rail (middle of tank area) to the bottom of the tank.. it measures 2.5" So the middle of the tank hangs down 2.5" from the frame.. The tank is also tapered from the front of the car to the rear.. Meaning.. the rear bumper end of the tank slope up towards the trunk..
Hope this helps

Thanks for the measurements. The guy trying to install some type of replacement tank wanted the measurement. Hopefully he will come up with something soon. I don't know a lot about cars, but I do know they are difficult to drive without a gas tank.
