62 starfire heater valve and mounting bracket

I have a question for you guys. Been working on the 62 again and I am putting a new intake gasket on. I noticed the heater valve was replaced (I will take a pict tomorrow) but I wanted to ask, which would be the correct substitute for the heater valve? I guess they are hard to find or they don't repop them.

Also, I noticed that the plate it screws into on the block is kind of messed up. The threads in the actual plate on one side are totally worn out and the screw won't screw into the plate on that side (just slides into the hole) but the other side still has threads. Now does anyone know where to find another plate, or will it be ok to just use it as it is, since the screw just goes down into the block anyway. I didn't see it leaking or anything but it may not have sealed properly (previous owner put RTV under the intake gasket, which got hard and started to leak all over the place).

Anyone else run into this problem? I suspect that someone in the past just over tightened that side and stripped the threads out Thanks in advance!

Hi Martin, the plate has a pipe thread in the middle hole and it will be stamped top on one side, the other holes are not threaded as they are clearance holes for the bolts into the head.
This valve was repoped for a while and every once in a while one shows up on e-bay.

Thanks for the info steve! I have no idea what an original is supposed to look like but I will keep my eyes open. I guess I don't have to worry about the threads being messed up in the clearance holes if they aren't supposed to be threaded anyway. Thanks again! I hope to get the intake back on her soon
