I spent the last weekend assembling the subframe, all new brakes, poly bushings, got most the parts powdercoated, every thing that was left over was painted, tubular upper control arms, new wheel bearings, the works. just a couple pictures. I did have a lot of down time, the shop my car is in got re arranged so someone could paint their car. anyways, heres a couple pics. the rear end got powdercoated, its next.

Thats what I have been saying my whole life, finally decided to just sleeve money for as long as possible (also I eat a lot of macaroni and cheese) and buckle down and do it. The major problem im having... is I want to drive it so bad! haha. Its just time and money, and even then, I dont have a car payment, so I try to spend like 2, 3 hundred a month, dont really notice it too much.
#248
lost my photo's, ill get back with you guys with them, got the subframe in, started bolting stuff back onto the fire wall. gettin some body work done getting it ready for paint. rear end needs gears and it will be ready to go back in!

brought home this beauty today, 73 oldsmobile omega 350, auto car. got it for a song and a dance, unfortinately the guy bought it, then his job relocated him to texas, and he lost the title in the move. its a good parts car, but its also a hatchback and its not badly rusted! its a parts car now

non hog, the whole reason I bought it was for the 73 grills, and the plastic between the front fascia and the bumper! haha, I have a fiberglass 73 bumper, so ill use that, but keep the steel one just because!

Brake master cylinder showed up today, were using a disc disc master cylinder from a 74 corvette with manual brakes, proportioning valve is on its way from speedway, I also have front calipers and pads on the way, making progress! I want to drive this thing!
I hope I have money left over to build my long rod 455

Gentlemen! my most sincere apologies! I fell succumb to a crashed computer, that coupled with house shopping I havent had a chance to get on here. I can assure you progress has been made, and I do have some pictures I should be able to get on here after work. The biggest news would be I ordered a Nodular 4.11 third member for the rear end, and its HERE! its very beautiful. Thank you for your support and a special thanks to you nonhog!

On my way to go buy a complete DX engine from down the street for 180 bucks. I really hope thats not too much for one of those. but he wont go any less than 180, that tells me he paid that much for it. at least it turns over!
#258
Here she is, all for the tune of $180, this one might end up as a "high performance" turbo diesel as opposed to a big inch small block. My boss and I are going to tear into it and see what kind of modifications we can do to it to use it as a diesel engine. Hey, someone has to do it! haha

Got a little done tonight. Installed new pads and the old calipers, they still work. Also got all the rubber lines installed, I need to stop by the parts store to get some steel line for going in between, gettin pretty good at throwing ford rear ends in cars! haha. Doesnt sound like much, but this part took me most of the night for whatever reason.

Also I should probably point out a short but funny problem I had. I decided to try to put gear oil in the rear end before putting it in the car, after trying for about an hour to get the fill plug out of the rear end housing, I decided "screw it!" And we tilted the pinion up to the 12 o' clock position, pulled the five bolts that retaing the pinion support, and pulled the pinion and filled it that way!
Down the road when I need to mess around with the rear end, ill take the pumpkin to someone who can heat it enough to get the stupid plug out, but as of right now, this baby needs to get rolling!

Brakes have been completed, and bled, im very excited, the pedal has very little travel and is very firm. Hopefully it works on the street! (the car is still on blocks)
Also on another note, on my side project Im working on adapting a 6.2L diesel injection pump to the olds DX motor, no one has ever done it... I might as well. its the only way to get enough fuel to the stupid thing to put a turbo.. or two, on it.

I have a 73 Oldsmobile hatchback 455 installed and running flowtech headers, rack and pinion and no gearbox, aluminium radiator with 2 12" cooling fans, had to shim he motor mounts crank pulley sat too close to the crossmember.

ok, everyone except for you! haha, but thats exactly my point, I finally, after months of searching, found a complete setup, actually, it found me, I left an ad on CL saying, if anyone had a complete setup id buy it. Lots of guys were emailing me wanting tons of money, some guy called me today and said he had everything for half of what everyone else wanted, and that he was in olympia, well my boss just happens to be in olympia, so he just stopped by and picked everything up for me. Itll take a little work to the nose piece to make it look right, but ill make it happen. it was one of those things, I couldnt afford not to buy it, just to have it!

#273
Hey guys sorry for not being on in awhile, I had to buy a house! so as far as making the hood work, I plan on using the pontiac hood with the oldsmobile front grill, I will have a buddy of mine who does awesome fiberglass work rework the top center of the grill to match the hood... that is the plan anyway! I am all moved in though! after weeks of hard work... haha

Picked up this beauty a few weeks ago, 96 LSS with factory optional series 2 supercharged V6, ( I am a huge fan of these engines ) only has 89k miles on it, but the intake gaskets went bad and washed the bearings down. Got the engine out and am currently going through it, hope to have it back on the road and have a nice car to cruise in while I work on the omega

For those of you who don't know, apparantly hurst and B&M are one and the same, I called to get some parts for my T56 shifter, and not only were they quick to get me an answer, they are shipping me the parts for free. Unbelievable. I have a dryer that I cant get parts for because I am pretty sure it was made by our friends over across the pond... if you catch my drift. Not trying to be rude, but it makes it hard to get replacement parts haha
#277
lss olds intake leaking
in case you are not aware of this the intake plenum cracks on the 3800 where the egr tube passes thru it where there is a water jacket and lets antifreeze in,i've seen these motors hydro-locked from it.dorman sells a nice replacement kit,jc

Also on a seperate note, sanded the bottom of one of the part car fenders, it had plastic on it, but its completely solid, has just a tiny bit of pitting, lets hope the other one is good, cause neither of mine are.
#279
Today its barely warm enough to work on the car (shop has no heat) wish me luck, my goal, get the engine and trans together and get it ready to go into the car. ( I decided due to time, and funds, im not putting the pistons and rods in it right now, ill just slap it together since it ran, and drive it for the summer, probably do engine next winter.
