Ok, this will be like asking what kind of ice cream would everybody like!
I'm starting to plan the dual exhaust system for the 62' Starfire. I've been reading a lot and looking at a lot of internet reports. X pipe/H pipe, 2.5/3.0" pipe, mufflers. After watching several Dyno runs in different configurations I think I'll go with 2.5" pipe and an x pipe and haven't decided on the mufflers yet.
What do you guys think?

I'm starting to plan the exhaust system on the 62' Starfire. I've done some homework on the internet and watched the Dyno runs with different configurations of x pipe/ h pipe, 2.5 vs 3.0" pipe and a variety of mufflers.
I think that I've decided on an x pipe and 2.5" pipe because there's no appreciable gain or loss with other combos and the x pipe sounds better. Haven't decided on a muffler yet.
Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

Yah, 2.5" is plenty. The X pipe does change the tone, only put one in if easy to do. The Dynomax Super Turbos flow well and are decently quiet.

Good luck, the problem is at the driver's head pipe, it takes a pretty torturous route and there's no way IMO that you will fit a two and a half inch pipe in through there. I bought a pre bent set of pipes off of eBay and added some cherry bomb Mufflers to the back on my 61 Dynamic 88. The route over and around the rear suspension is pretty tight also.

Purchasing a left side dual exhaust manifold from a '63, or '64 Olds 394 will make a large improvement to the exhaust flow and it will keep your Starter a lot cooler. The biggest problem will be trying to locate one and being able to afford it!!!
