62 vs 65

My buddy who owns a rod shop, just put a 478 big block into a 65 Buick Skylark--> Fit awesome, by the way..
So while it was on the lift, I was checking it out and noticing the similarities between it and my '62 Cutlass.

Is the '65 a wider car or is it the same width.. ReasonI was asking, is because my valence is a little beat up and the valence on the '65 looks to be the same..

Just wondering if the car dimensions are close between the two body styles?

Anybody know?

Thanks

Two entirely different cars.

Well that's a bummer.. The Valence was the same design was just hoping it was not any wider?? I realize the all the oter body parts were much different but if the width was the same the valence might be as well.

So you are saying that the 63 and up are wider then?

OK, I have no idea what question you are asking or what kind of car you are asking about.

The title of you post says "62 vs 65", and the original post talks about a 1965 Skylark. The 65 Skylark doesn't even have a valance panel.

If you REALLY mean a 1963 Skylark, yes, the 61-63 Y-body cars are the same platform and relatively the same dimensionally. The 63s are slightly longer overall but have the same wheelbase, unibody, and floorpan as the 61-62 cars. Unfortunately, the 1963 Skylark doesn't have a valance panel either, so exactly what car are you asking about?

I think that he was comparing the '65 Skylark to his '62 Cutlass, in which case, two different animals.

I know what he WROTE. I was asking what he MEANT. As the photos I posted show, NEITHER year Buick has a valance panel. The valance panel is the body-colored sheet metal part below the bumper on this 62.

Joe, I thought that you missed his '62 Cutlass reference in the first post.

His first post clearly asks if the nonexistent valance panel from a 65 Skylark is the same width as the one on his 62 Cutlass. In post #4 he asks about 1963-up cars. I have no idea what year he is really asking about. He needs a valance panel for his 62. At some point the OP will chime back in and hopefully clear this up.
