I forgot that is true, I have retrofitted my original Starfire hubcaps to my 15" wheels, and in my case it works well..
It is in my topic:

i didn't mean to use the whole wheel cover just the 2 bar center cap.it looks like they would be a close fit to go on the pontiac 8 lugs.i have a set of 8 lugs and could measure the width of the cap opening but i don't have an olds wheel cover center cap to measure its opening.

Neat idea. Has anyone ever tried using the complete Pontiac 8 lug brake setup on a big Olds? Is it interchangeable?

i don't see why not BUT the 65-68 8 lugs use a 2 3/4 in brake shoe on front,best bet would be the early 60-62 i think they were 2 1/4 ,63 -64 2 1/2.https://www.jgrelining.com/pontiac

I noticed in the interior pics that the rear panels haven't been changed out. Do you have them or don't they fit?

I do have a pair of really nice 62 rear panels that match the front door panels but they are too short. At some point I will have to get custom rear panels made or make them myself. If I do that I'm going to hold out until I find a pair of 61 front door panels.

Hey guys I'm currently searching for a pair of decent rear ashtrays for a 62 Starfire WITHOUT power windows, so its just the ashtray without the integrated p/w switch. I'm not sure if the same style with the ribbed to is the same on later years so 63 or 64 may work. I do have a pair with the p/w switches in them but for now I'm staying with crank windows. Thank you.

Ohh......STILL looking for some 1961 Starfire door panels in any condition. Actually I really only need the trim unless the front panels are minty garnet red. I will need extra trim to fabricate custom rear panels as they are longer than the convertible.

Door panels under construction

So I finally found some 61 Starfire door panels. They look way better than they are I will only be reusing the trim and using the panel for a pattern.

I'll be using this black pvc foamboard for the panel.

If this

is what you seek, which is what I have in my 1962 Dynamic 88 conv, they are readily available as GM used it across the makes/models line.

Try eBay or OPGI

The Starfire used a longer ashtray in the rear with a die cast ribbed top and an integral lighter. Very upscale; I believe it was Starfire only. All 61 Starfires and 62 Starfire convertibles would have a power window switch also. I have seen 62 Starfire coupes without pw using the ashtray I'm looking for. I'm going to assume that they are only available used. Pontiac GP might use the same ashtray.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited to get these door panels in the works. It will help me when I fabricate the custom rear panels to match.

Went to a GREAT little shop yesterday called Wholesale USA Upholstery supply. http://www.wholesaleusastl.com/ I walked out with 2 yards of vinyl (super close to factory color) all the metal edging, and the 1/8" dense foam for the upper section for $60!! I just want to give them some kudos because they were so helpful and the prices were very reasonable. More pictures to follow!

Details glued in place and an outline of the chrome trim. The outside strip will clamp the material around the edges.

Weighing down the vinyl between the details. Tomorrow ill stretch it in place and secure it. Waiting on carpet from ACC to match the floors and i havent even ordered the mylar for the middle from SMS yet so who knows how long before they're done. Still need to do the passenger side but this was not too bad.

So I finally placed my order for the embossed metal Mylar for the center of the panels.....6-8 weeks and $235 for enough to do 3 door panels.....that extra material should give me enough to make my custom rear panels. That is the only way I could get it because I was told that the panels are all die cut and the rears would not be long enough for me to use. So I'm looking at the end of April or early May before I even get the material.

I'm curious to know what you think of the Metal Mylar...if it seems to match well

Also, have you - or do you intend to replate the plastic armrest bases? I would like to do mine but am hesitant - if you have a source that would be great if you could share it.

Your project is awesome and I love the progress.

The embossed metal/mylar from SMS looks like an exact match. I just saw somewhere someone was selling a set of "NOS" precut mylar panels for $500. I thought SMS was pricey but jeez....

on the armrest bases I'm not sure yet what to do. Probably going to try and paint them with a "chrome" paint. Who replates these?
