I have been doing some research on the correct 63 F-85 under hood paint colors. I've noticed some cars engine compartments were painted the body color and some were satin black. I'm trying to find out which is correct and the only info I found was that Oldsmobile painted the 63's both ways, depending on production date.

Does anyone have further info on this? I just want to make sure which color is correct for my production date. My dads car appears to have original paint and interior, but I can't be certain. It's white on white, which also seems like an uncommon color combo as I can't find any other examples on the internet. So, I wanted to try and verify the cowl tag to see if someone changed anything along the way...

All the f85's I've had, the lower body color and engine bays matched. But I've only had 62's

1970-W30

On my 63 the engine bay matched the body color like it should. Paint code CCC translates to Provincial White top, lower body and wheel color.

My 63 Cutlass had a white engine bay, same as the body color.
