66 Starfire Fuel Pump

66 Starfire Fuel Pump
Ok so my 66 Starfire has a rusty tank. We cleaned it before, and then began to use it. Well guess what, it wasn't clean enough. It pulled rust from the tank and clogged the carb. We are working on redoing the tank and carb, but my mind turned to whether or not the fuel pump also got hurt from rust. If I were to replace it with a regular old mechanical fuel pump where should I go? I use rock auto for most of what I've needed so far but I would like a delco or delphi fuel pump, not a crappy chinese one...

Carter makes a nice pump if your car uses a return line. The part # I use is
M4516 & I use it on my 66 442 3X2 car. It has the correct fitting/line placements for my car and I bet it will be the same for a Starfire. It's ethanol compatible also.

On rockauto for the 66 delta 88 425 it lists a carter m4871 and also the m4516 you talked about. The difference seems to be that the m4871 is a non-ac part, and my car is non ac so would this be the better choice? I think they're largely the same

The non A/C unit probably doesn't have the return line and if your car doesn't have a return line, that's probably the correct one.
