Oldsmobiles in movies!

Get those tri-powers bolted on, people
No Olds, here. Just a Cattlequack boat driven by Emilio Estevez thinking he's James Dean or sumthin' getting chased by what should be a 400 hp Marauder Police Package with Tri-Power intake, for those of you debating going over to such a set-up or not:

My bad. "Martin Sheen" is actually Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Sheen

In the following film, a shabby, in need of restauration (I think) 1970 98 convertible is featured, in the last 1/4 of the movie, after they move to San Francisco. The lead actor, playing the type of cop you'd love to first shoot in the kneecaps and elbows, doesn't treat that Olds very nice, when he goes into one of his psychopathic fits: http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek#/beit...gs-Will-Fly%22

If anyone has seen "Outside Providence", there's a scene where they're walking to see a Patriots game at the old Schaeffer Stadium (present day Gillette) and when they enter the parking lot there's a Bittersweet '71
Supreme Convertible parked right on the end. I know this random detail becasue it's my car (in my signature)
I even have an "official movie car" plaque for the 15 seconds of air time.
Unfortunately I only have the movie on VHS and no longer own a VCR

in a recent movie "american hustle" I drove my 65 f85 in a scene that was reshot about twenty times but the scene never made it in,i was an extra in three scenes none of which made it,only a shot of my 66 dynamic 88 made it in a scene involving Jeremy renner with just a blurry glimpse of my f85 in one of the trailers for the movie.in spite of the disappointment it was a great movie.it's amazing how much movie ends up in the trash.

Cool thread. While someone mentioned Oldsmobiles in music videos earlier, my all time favorite is Chicago's "Stay the Night" which features a red '68 442 'vert getting driven pretty hard by the pretty young lady. Also, Justin Beiber has a video that has a black '68 Cutlass/442 (not sure which) 'vert in it. And you can't ignore one of Ciara's videos showing off her trademark "groving" moves perched atop a mid '80s Cutlass Supreme.

the hitcher used three or four 70-72 cars all to look like dark Twilight blue 70 442 (s). Years ago a man in town had two of the cars for sale and i purchased parts from him including doors and fenders. That 71 442 was a camera car that had camera brackets welded to the doors and the rear quarters were chopped for a movie crew to sit in the back and film some of the chase senes.

And I sold them twelve SSII wheels , three oem am radios, lots of wheel lip moldings, fan shrouds and many odd pieces.

Corner Gas
Through 6 seasons of the popular Canadian TV series "Corner Gas" and in various episodes you will see Brent Leroy's (played by Brent Butt) yellow & black 1968 Cutlass S.

My wife and daughters just rented it and told me about it. So I looked it up at the ever growing movie database. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_834404-...-442-1971.html

Olds Reference in The Blacklist
Not a movie but rather a TV show but loved this exchange in a recent episode of The Blacklist where Red enters a garage owned by a guy named Semo....
Red: Semo!!
Semo: Hey...How you doin!! You still got that sweet GTO?
Red: Sadly no. I gave it to a North Korean General in exchange for a young woman's freedom.
Semo: I know a lot of women...I'd have kept the goat!
~laughter~
Red: As I recall, you've always carried a torch for Oldsmobiles. I have a line...on a low mileage, pristine, 1970 four four two with a factory W30 package. I could put you in touch in exchange for a small favor...you interested?
Semo: What do you think?
Just thought I'd share.

There is a movie coming out, which appears to be set in the early 70's, another college or high school type, and in the clip, someone is driving (side view) a '71-72 442 in Nordic blue, with a blue interior and an eight track. A '70-72 Monte Carlo seems to be another one of the rides.

I'm guessing you mean "Everybody Wants Some", which is supposed to be kind of a 1980 sequel to "Dazed and Confused" set in college instead of high school. Have not seen it yet and the critics are not liking it, but the original is a favorite of mine since I grew up in that era. Early 70's cars for a movie set in 1980 makes sense - that is what most of us drove unless you had rich parents. Linklater seems to like the A-bodies and the GTO in "Boyhood" was his personal car.

Just came across this one....if you skip ahead to about 48:00, you'll see a blue '74 Olds 88 police car that runs straight into a wall. As it his, you'll see the ACRS deploy and then see the driver walk away from a major hit.

This movie is being shown on Showtime & The Movie Channel right now. Starts Christian Bale, Casey Affleck & Woody Harrelson. Good film. The 442 is Casey's.

1963 88 in first scene of "Dirty Dancing" 1987
I could have swore the movie car was brown but this ad for the alleged original car shows it blue.

This site says it's the car also but is cream or white colored.

cars in movies
In Porky's one of the guys is driving a 1953 Super 88 Convertible and in SlapShot the Hansen Brothers are driving around town on the parade deck of a 1975 Gray Delta 88 Convertible.

Corner Gas the TV series and movie. Both Brent who drives a 68 Olds Cutlass S and Oscar drives a fwd Omega, I believe. There is even a fantasy episode where Brent's 68, the main character, his Olds plays the role of Kitt from Nightrider.
