Help Neded: Questions on changing my 1968 to a 4 core radiator
Looking for some help with my 1968 cutlass 4 core radiator upgrade. I am. Upgrading from a 3 core to 4 core. I know it takes different to plate and I have that. I know it takes different lower radiator mounts and I have them.
What I can’t figure out is how does the fan shroud attach to the lower part of the radiator support. Manual says they use the same shroud but attach differently at the bottom but is unclear how. Can anyone please explain. this to me, or better yet can anyone provide pictures of how the lower part of the shroud hooks up.
Thanks Tim

Tim, here's a discussion on a 1969 with another member asking the same question. But I'm not sure if the 1968 was the same or not. Can you check yours to see if it has the same shape as the 1969 photos here?

Thanks 2blue442 I did see that post. It’s for a 1969 I know the radiator supports are different than the 1968 but the may be the same set up down at the lower shroud mount area. Does anyone have a picture of an actual 1968 4 core radiator support showing mainly the lower shroud mount area?
thanks

The lower shroud mounting for a '68 is almost identical to the '69. Follow that link that was posted for Matt69. For the lower rad saddles, you could use Toro pieces, they bolt in place of your current saddles.

Have you considered re-coring your 3-row radiator to 4 rows and keeping your endcaps, allowing you to keep your support cradles and shroud mounts? I did that years ago w/ my 2-row radiator and it worked great. The fit in the saddles were a little tight, but with some gentle persuasion the top cap and shroud all fit like original.
I've since replaced it w/ a 2-row aluminum radiator just as thick as my old 4-row, and now that the ears on the lower portion of my shroud have snapped off over the years, I have tie-wraps between a new hole drilled in what is left of the shroud ears and the radiator support bolt holes. Can't see it from the top. Seems like duplicating the factory setup is a lot of work for a Cutlass unless you are going for a nut-n-bolt restoration.
