Convertible top pump

I am restoring my 68 Cutlass Convert. I removed the electrical pump for the convrt top it has not worked in a while does anyone know what kind of fluid goes in , mine maybe leaked some out at the fitting that's why maybe it was not working

And here's a link to instructions on how to go about filling and bleeding the pump. The same info can be found in a Fisher Service Manual.

You can find bleed instructions on 442.com. Check if power is getting to the pump if it does not respond when you push the switch.

I would drain a little into a class container. I remember them using hydraulic brake fluid, but that is a long time ago, and I might have remembered wrong. If i is brake fluid, it will remove paint, but if it is transmission fluid, it will be red. Check, because the two don't mix well.

In researching this very thing, I read in the 1966 Fisher manual to use brake fluid. The next text I saw was the 1970 Fisher manual and it says use Type A (or equivalent) trans fluid. So somewhere between 66 and 70 it switched.
