Have you tried the Buick website? Buick was the one that imported the Opel. I never heard of a Kapitan. I remember the Opel Rekord which was imported in the 50's and then the Kadett which was imported by Buick beginning in 1964. I did a search on the Kapitan. It appears to be a mid size car which is probably why it was not imported since it would complete with GM's mid size cars. This is one you are probably not going to find any parts for in this country. Here is a link:

Your profile says you are resident in Poland. Much though all of us would be happy to help, I suggest you look to a historical Opel forum based in Germany for more chance of success.
Here's wishing you luck.
Roger.

That is an interesting air cleaner on there. It is interesting to note they attached the vin/data plate with screws. There was probably little likelihood anybody would steal it. Since this car was never exported to the US, I doubt there are any parts anywhere in this country. Good luck with your car.

It goes back to the "recession" of 1958 . Probably the lowest point in the stock market since 1929 , at that time .
Suddenly , money for big , fancy , cars and gasoline was disappearing fast . Buick , Olds , and Pontiac dealers were hard pressed to sell cars . Add to this , the "foreign car craze " was just taking hold . Led by Volkswagen , and including Renault , Hillman , Volvo , Saab , and on the west coast , Toyota .
Previously , GM had allowed its dealers to sell other makes , only if they were GM . There were no Buick - Ford agencies .
The GM "compacts" Corvair , Tempest , F-85 , and Special were just starting development and were two or three years from production . So , as a stop - gap measure , GM allowed Buick dealers to sell Opels and Pontiac dealers to sell Vauxhalls . Which were both European subsidiaries of GM .
As far as I know , Oldsmobile instead opted to offer a "stripped down" model known as a " Dynamic 88 " . Which had less chrome trim and cheaper upholstery . than the base '88 . It also featured a low compression , regular gas , two barrel engine . (the first two barrel Olds since 1956 .)
It's interesting that Olds didn't need to "tool up" a two barrel manifold for the 371 . All they did was use a three two barrel manifold from the J-2 model , and block the end carb holes with steel plates . This is probably why you still see so many J-2 manifolds today .
The Pontiac - Vauxhall alliance was dropped quickly in 1961 with the introduction of the Tempest . The Buick - Opel alliance lasted into the seventies , with some models , such as the Opel GT selling quite well .
I dare say that by the seventies , if you walked into a Pontiac dealer and asked for Vauxhall parts , all you would get is a blank stare .

Interesting Charlie and thanks for the history lesson. My wife had a 58 Vauxhall station wagon when she was in high school. Her aunt and uncle bought it new and drove the heck out of it and then gave it to her when she was a junior about 1963. The things I remember it hardly had any brakes which I fixed and the rear end howled like crazy. I was driving the thing one Sunday following her in my 60 Impala and the rear end imploded and I coasted down a ramp off the I20 bridge. I found a wrecking yard that actually had two of them and got the rear end for about $35 if I remember correctly. That was in 1965.
