What do I need to pull with junkyard LQ4?
Found a 02 2500 Van with 6.0 at a junkyard. What all do I need to get other than the motor, harness and ECU? How many miles are to many? It's for a 71 Cutlass. It's got the 4L80, but a buddy of my sons getting it, he told us of the van. I'm hoping to put a T56 in, but could end up auto.

in short, everything you can get your hands on. Get the engine, full uncut harness, ecu, cut the exhaust after the primary O2 sensors so you can take those with, get at least the MAF sensor if not the entire intake ductwork. I'm not sure about the vans, but if it's drive by wire make sure you get the pedal and tac module... if they're drive by cable don't worry about those. I would recommend taking as much of the plumbing as you feel comfortable with as well. Some guys have been able to use the truck power steering line if you do a Jeep GC steering box swap, and I used stock truck upper and lower radiator hoses (cut a little to fit) for my swap.
Mileage on a used engine is up to anyone's interpretation and it'll really depend on the life the van lived prior to today. A compression check will tell you a little, do that before pulling if you can. Those engines have lives into the high 200k mile range if well serviced and not beaten on... but that's not saying i'd grab a 150k mile engine and drop it in without refreshing it.
All in all, it's a large undertaking but familiarize yourself with ls1tech.com and do some research before digging in.

EVERYTHING! Ecu, harness, accessories + brackets, sensors, MAF + intake tubing, exhaust + O2 sensors, pedal and TAC+harness, fuel pump, hoses (PS, cooling, etc), ground straps, battery cables, as much as possible. You may not need it now, but might be helpful for use and comparison later.
