As much as I spent on my engine and transmission I kick myself for not doing a late model conversion. My car is just a Cutlass as people say when they walk by at car shows, so I should have upgraded all the way to a modern LS/overdrive setup.

And a few that thought it was a Chevell I even had a few that asked what is that ?

Same powertrain I picked up with only 26K in 2006 for my pro-touring 78z.
I loved it so much........I bought a 2008 6.0L LY6/T-56 setup for my 1970 Olds I'm currently doing.......still....after 2 years....lol

500hp 383 stroker (equal to an LS3) to a BBC, to 700R4's, etc.
Finally I woke up and realized the LS powertrain was the best bang for the buck.....of course after
blowing loads of cash on new Gen I motors and 30 year old built OD transmissions I sold later on.
These GM corporate Gen III and IV small blocks can put out the same power as the big
blocks with far better efficiency for pro-touring builds......meaning drivability. (Full on drag racing cars is another discussion)
Something that many fail to realize is every classic motor is rated by GROSS hp, (Pre-1972)
Even the one's every Tom, Dick, and Harry at a car show had built or rebuilt is rated the same way.
LS motor's are rated by SAE NET hp (post 1972). So when you compare a 455 making
360hp 500lbs ft to an LS2/LS3/LS7. The LS motors will top them in every category.......
A 14 second 442 will go into the high 10's, and 11's quickly........... >

(example with 66 Chevelle)
The LS3 for example is rated 430hp SAE NET but that's closer to 500hp Gross HP.
I want an LS7 ..........hence the avatar.....nearly 600hp from the factory GROSS hp.

Not sure how simiar these cars are to the Lemans\GTO but I used a CTS-V gen 1 oil pan and Chevelle engine mounts. Everything cleared with little issue. If you get adustable mounts like Dirty Dingo then you have even more options.
