1968 98 Convertible On Ebay

I have my car listed for sale on ebay. I would prefer to sell it complete, but if it doesn't sell, I will be parting it out. It still has the original 455 motor with its transmission intact and could supply a lot of good parts. The car appears to be complete with the exception of the fender skirts and wheel covers.

I noticed this line in your comments:

"I've been told that the '68 98 convertibles were the rarest convertibles that Oldsmobile produced after WWII."

Who told you this? The guy who sold you the car? It's not true, of course.

Olds built 3,942 98 convertibles in 1968. Compare that to the years surrounding 1968:

1966: 4,568
1967: 3,769
1968: 3,942
1969: 4,288
1970: 3,161

So there were fewer 98 convertibles made in 1967 and 1970 than in 1968, which means the '68s are not the rarest. For 1966 and 1969, more were made. Over this five year span, production for 1968 happens to fall right in the middle.

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the info. I stand corrected and will make the change in my listing. I had this for sale on the same forum awhile before and got a response from someone who sounded like he was pretty knowledgeable about Oldsmobiles. Guess I need to do a little homework on my own first next time. Thanks again.
