Trunk light ?

Trunk light ?
65 98 convert. Not sure if my trunk light is original, does not have mercury switch, nor is one shown in wire diagram like underhood light switch is. Light is wired to tailight circuit and stays on with tailights. Is this correct that it is lit with tail lights on and trunk closed?

That just doesn't sound right. All the pre 1970 cars I know of had the mercury switch. It sounds like someone has done some custom wiring? Do you have a 1965 CSM to check the electrical?

I know it doesn't sound correct. That is why I am asking. The CSM diagram shows a mercury switch for the underhood. BUT, for the trunk no switch is shown and it wires to the tail lights. It does however have a newer pigtail and bulb contact that perhaps a PO installed and removed the mercury contact switch.
Hoping someone with a 65 big car can tell me if it should have a merc switch or some other type of switch, and if so, maybe a pic of the switch. However, to repeat myself, no switch is shown in CSM diagram, at least that I see.

I have a 65 Jetstar1 and just looked at mine. It has about a 2 inch diam. light housing with a mercury switch in it. It appears to be original, as it still has the rope type insulator off the pig tail. It goes into the harness by the trunk hinge.

I have the same light housing, but I guess someone removed the switch and put in a pigtail. I know when I dissassembled the underhood light the merc switch could be removed from the housing.
Thanks guys, gotta look for a switch or complete light.
Didn't think Olds would just let it stay lit with tail lights on.
