1949 98 Lug Nut Torque

1949 98 Lug Nut Torque

Anybody know what it is? 80 ft/lbs, 100 ft/lbs, ????

Just good and hard.

I sincerely doubt that anybody in 1949 even thought about torque values on lug nuts.

I suspect you might be correct, but thought someone might have info. I just don't want to over tighten them. Interestingly, the right hand wheels have "righty-tighty" lug nuts, but the left hand wheels have "lefty-tighty" lug nuts. The theory was that the spinning motion of the wheels would not let them loosen.

Ya and if you get them to tight you can't get them off with your little Lug wrench. When at home I put them on with my impact wrench then check with the lug wrench to make sure I don't have the above problem....Tedd

Hey, I found the torque specs in the '49 CSM I got. 65 to 70 ft/lbs. Just in case anyone cares.
