Just Bought a Vista Cruiser
Hello,
I am from Anderson, SC and I just bought a 1968 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser Station Wagon. Its an all original car with around 113k miles. Its no cherry, but seems to be almost rust free, just a couple of dents where grandma didn't pay attention.
It has the 400 ci engine, 400 Trans, and as I refer to it the Fake 12 Bolt Rearend, or BOP, not a Chevrolet 12 bolt.
This is my first Oldsmobile, or any car other than a Chevrolet.
Some of my other cars include 3 70-72 Monte Carlos and a 57 Chevrolet 2 Door Hardtop.
\I have been wanting a driver condition wagon, and lucked up and found one. I was in the market for anything GM 72 down, but a Vista Cruiser was high on my list.
I drove the car home today from Sylva, NC to Anderson and had no issues, the Power Drum Brakes are ok, but will be upgraded to Disk off a Monte Carlo I parted out in the next few weeks, otherwise the power steering works, as well as the AC. Will try to post some pictures when I get time.

Welcome and congrats. FYI, that rear axle is called a Type O and was only used by Oldsmobile, never by Buick or Pontiac. It's an oddball, as you know, and parts are difficult to get.
The 400/400 combo is relatively rare in the 68s. Nice find. Check the roof windows carefully for rust under the stainless trim, as rust in this area can hide until there's significant water damage. That's the problem with my 64 VC.
