Wanted Ram air Hood & Question

I'm looking for a Ram Air Hood to put on my 1968 cutlass S that I'm cloning into a 442

Does anyone know where I can find one and what year will fit my car.

Thanks

Randy 442OH

You won’t find a standard off-the-shelf “Ram Air Hood" to "fit" a 68 as far as I know. If your metal working skills are experienced/advanced then you may be able to make one, though the lines on a 68 442, C/S or S hood may or may not be conducive to the mod? Maybe a 68 F85 hood could be modified? Maybe fit a 69 HO scoop to a 68 F85??? 69s a different story you can get a 70 hood to fit with mods. The radiator core support on a 68 is a one year only animal as is the 69. But the 69 is closer to a 70 than a 68 is. Interesting/intriguing idea though. I’ll bet someone with advanced body skills could do this. Your other option is the OAI ducts, under bumper scoops and air cleaner option better known as the 68-69 W30,31 & 32 OAI option. Most of its reproduced. Be aware the 68 scoops are different from the 69s. There’s other subtle differences between 68-69 OAIs as well.
If you’re going through the trouble of cloning, tribute or whatever you want to call it please do your homework and don’t make blatant mistakes.

Welcome to the site Randy. I think droldsmorland covered the availability of OAI (Outside Air Induction) for 1968's. The 442 hood was also used on other models of 1968's, they had two small non-functional grills attached to the hood near the center, back portion. Here's a picture of that hood. For your clone car this hood would be adequate. If you really want to go with the under bumper scoops they're sold repop but to get the air cleaner, hoses and scoops may be upwards of $750. That would be the closest you'll find to something that can be attached without too much fabrication. John
