New to classics and new to the forum
Hello Members,
I've been lurking for a while now and decided to introduce myself.
My name is Chris, I'm 31, and I'm now an owner of a 67 442. This is my first classic muscle car and I'm going to need all your help to know everything about my car inside and out. In the past I've been a import type of guy, and just admired the classics on the side. Cars i've owned in the past: 93 Mazda Rx7 420whp, 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gs-T, Mercedes Benz CLK 320, Mazda RX8, and my last vehicle was a Nissan Titan.
I sold my truck and decided I wanted to try a type of vehicle I've never tried before, and a muscle car peaked my interest the most. Also owning a car that doesn't depreciate in value as soon as you've had it for more than a year helped. My father has always owned Corvettes throughout the years so I've always had the appreciation for the old American Muscle.
My goal was to find a Olds 442 or a Buick Gran Sport from the late 60s or early 70s. I was looking for those cars specifically for the fact that they are a little more rare than the standard Chevelle, GTO and Camaro.
After searching for months, I found a 67 442 within a few hours from my location and decided to jump on it.
To my knowledge this is a true 442 that was originally a CA car that was sent to the son in WI when the original owner passed away. In 1997 the car was restored and a 455 block was used with the stock 400 heads. It has Jet coated Headers, a bigger cam, front disc brakes, and a couple more little addons. Other than that the car is near stock.
The next owner bought the car in 2001 with 4500miles on since the restore in 1997. He drove the car 600miles total since that time to when I bought it in February.
There are only a few issues with the car that I know of. First the car needs some body work and a paint job. It has ZERO rust, but has some dents and the paint that was put on is started to flake off. Apparently the guy who did the restore put all his money on the motor, chrome and interior, but didn't have enough to complete the body and paint.
So my goals are to improve the suspension, newer wheels, do bodywork and get it painted.
Let me know what you think, and let me know if you want to see more pictures and what I should do with the car.

Welcome aboard the C/O And welcome to being an Oldsmobile owner. Do we want pics? Why certainly. As a matter of fact we love pics Personally I would opt for paint and body first, then I would explore options on suspension. To each his/her own, this board has both purists and non-purists. So you will get all kinds of opinions, and they are just that. But I would study photos of the same body style and go with what suits you. Cheers

Very nice car and welcome to CO! You will really love that car and wonder why you didn't get a classic sooner. Maybe it was so you would stumble onto a gem like that!
You will find this site is full of people that love these Oldsmobiles with all of their being and are very happy to share their wisdoms with enthusiastic new olds owners. Any questions just ask and you will find the answers here.
By the way, if you decide to change those wheels I would be interested in the old ones.

You lucky b@st@rd, that's an awesome looking car! Best of luck w/ it and enjoy all the time you'll have w/ it,it certainly isn't going to be one of those cars you'll want to get rid of.
This is a great forum and these folks are great. I signed up a couple months ago and everytime i posted a topic w/ a question the responses were quick.
If some of these guys could reach through the computer I'm sure they would to try to help out w/ a problem and there are tons of great stuff to read up or do research using the search engine they have with the website.
