SWitched over to Oldsmobile

Hello everyone, I joined this sight because I just bought a 64 Olds Cutlass Convertible, and I have always been a mopar man. My first car was a 64 442 that i got when I was 16,And i want to go back to that type car. I love the looks and sound of those old OLdsmobiles. But I am not at all familiar with there engines or where to buy parts for them. I would like to put a small cam in this with a little lope to the idle and a set of headers also. All help would sure be apreciated. Thanks Phil

Welcome, alot of the mechanical parts are still available over the counter at your local auto parts store. I too love the old mopars!!!!! And Fords, Chevrolets, Amc's, Pontiacs, Buicks, .... Hell I think that all the manufactures made neat cars prior to say 1972!!!

Welcome

Welcome Phil! I like your choice of Oldsmobile! I have had many vintage cars of varying makes....and my dream is still to replace my father's 1969 442. It was my fond memories of his car that created my interest in my Olds. I want to add that 1969 to the garage within the next couple years. I am just waiting to find as close of an exact match of his car that I can.

Enjoy the site, it is highly informative and it's actually active.

Thanks all for the kind words. I have to get to learn what parts on the engine if any are interchangable with others.

Welcome to the site!

pretty much eveything on your engine should be an easy swap from any other engine. All Olds Blocks, big and small, are the same externally. The differences are the intake manifold for the big blocks (400,425,455) are wider than the small blocks, but things like valve covers, dist, carbs, oil pans, fuel pump, motor mounts, etc are the same.

Not too sure about acc brackets thought
