1951 Rocket 88 - Original Owner
I'm new to the site. I was a few months old when my parents purchased a 1951 Rocket 88. I clearly spent a lot of time in this car as it took us on many journeys for years. My father is gone but my mother is still with us.
The car was restored in the 1980's and still in great shape. We are interested in the value and deciding whether we want to hold onto this treasured car. Any information and advice would be appreciated. It is stored and covered presently inside our business warehouse. At some point we will need the area it is taking up. For more information visit our site at www.51olds.com

Welcome, a nice looking Olds! For pricing look at similar model/years in Hemmings, Old Cars & Parts, Classic Auto Trader etc. Perhaps an appraisal service may be of some help. With the family history, parting with it may not be easy, once it's gone...

Thank you all so much for the warm comments and most of all the great information. The info re: 88 A and 88 B were very helpful as was the info on the chrome etc. My father knew all this but the incredible detail you provided didn't get passed down. He would so appreciate the comments that have been made about the upkeep and the restoration.

Sharon what was your Dad's name? Was he in the Olds club of Fla? What a sensational story. To still have that car after all these years is fantastic. I wish my family had kept any of the scores of Oldsmobiles over the years.

His name was Vernon Berry. I'm not sure they were in the club here in FL. He retired from Delta in 1987 and moved from Atlanta to Oviedo, FL.
They did belong to club/s in GA and Atlanta area I believe. He had other Oldsmobiles. As I recall, 1961, 1966 (I think a Delta 88), 1973, a Toronado, a 1990 somthing 98 and their last was a 1998 Aurora, which my mother still drives at 85. She learned from Daddy how to take good care of the car. The 51 was the only one they kept.
