Hello all
Another new guy here. Looking forward to getting involved and learning the Olds side of things. A little history on me. I've been a Chevy guy for a long time. I started out with my first car being a 70 Z28 and then went on to a 68 Chevelle SS396 Convertible. I have since gotten married, had three great kids and sold the muscle for a minivan.
Anyway, I was talking previous cars with a co-worker and he said if I was interested in old cars he has one he wants to get rid of. He said it was a 69 Olds Delta 88 from South Dakota and was just sitting in the yard. I asked how much, $1200, hmmm, I decided it was worth looking at. It has a 455/v2 and despite sitting in northern Minnesota for the last 9yrs, 4 of those outside, it's rust free. The car only has 75k miles on it and I'm picking it up this week and driving it the 360 miles back home to central WI.
I don't know much about Oldsmobile, so some information searching got me here. I'm looking forward to tinkering once again and I'm sure I'll be looking for lots of help/advice in the future. Once I'm allowed, I'll post some pictures and if anyone is interested you can follow me in my Olds adventures.
I'll post updates when I have time.

Nope, it's not a Royale. Those have the nicer interior, floor shifters, ect...right? Do they say Royale on the body anywhere? This one just says Delta 88.
I got it running and drove it a little last week on one of my visits to the area. It was missing pretty good due to the old rubber on the plug wires not holding them on tight and the points were needing some serious cleaning. Once that was fixed, I took it down the road and quickly realized that a posi would be a good idea. I don't know what the engine HP/Torque specs are on it, but it makes serious torque at crazy low rpm's. Does anyone here know the factory specs on the 69 Delta 455 2V?
Also, can I get a posi unit for the rear end on this thing or do I swap it out entirely? It has 12 bolts on the cover, but I didn't look for any markings. I suppose I need to find out the rear end type first. I think in the "rear end section" on here it mentioned 2 types with 12 bolts on the cover.
I will also be looking for a 4 barrel intake and carb and would like some recomendations for that as well.

Good looking project car, should make a sweet ride. Yes the 455 makes crazy torque at low rpm.
Edelbrock performer manifold. I prefer Holly carb's myself, but thats just me. You will get other opinions on the carburator choice. Go with dual exhaust as well.
Good luck and keep us posted on your resurection

I'll be replacing the wires and going electronic pretty soon I hope. You may have saved me some frustration here.
