Hello! I recently acquired a 1 owner 69 Cutlas Supreme hardtop. The car was given to me by my father in law, he has a lot of cars he is in the process of restoring and no one in the family showed any interest in it, so he said I could have it! I am thrilled, and have plans on doing a budget cruise/drag build. I have no idea what motor is in it(stopped by to take pictures of the car, couldnt get the hood open), but do know that it runs, brakes are frozen up and needs new tires. Plan on leaving the car the way it is interior and outside wise. Going to order some SS1's soon and do what I need to do to the brakes so I can drive it around and will start on the suspension from there and eventually looking to do wilwood disc brakes and complete motor/trans/rear end swap. Car has been kept in a garage so interior is in great shape and paint looks great for its age. No signs of rust but I have not been underneath the car yet. Excited to see how this turns out and looking foward to learning from the wealth of information this forum has to offer. Thanks!
Welcome! Good looking Cutlass! Free is the best price. No rust is a huge bonus.
BTW, that is the deluxe wheel cover; way heavier than the the regular wheel covers.
Thank you all very much! Definitely helps starting with a free car, makes it easier to justify sinking some money into it, and very thankful that I have a solid car to start with. Saves me a lot of time and money! Will definitely post a build thread when I get started, will take a little time but once I get started should be steady progress. Still trying to decide my final build list. I am not mechanically inclined, and am not sure what kind of engine I want to go with. Have considered LS or 455, if it had a rocket 350 would it be worth building? I would like to get above the 400hp mark. I am not mechanically inclined and do not have a lot of knowledge when it comes to building motors, luckily I have family that does and are going to help me take on this project so I can learn in the process. We will see.

Welcome. Good luck with your car. Make sure the disc brakes are compatible with the wheels you buy. No sense buying wheels twice.
Exact reason I havent pulled the trigger on the super stocks yet. I was looking at a set of 15x7 Super Stock 1's, the brake kit specifies that 15 in wheels will clear them, but doing more research to make sure everything will for sure work. I have made that mistake in the past, although thankfully it was only on a spare wheel.
A 455 would be the most economical route to get you your HP goal and will basically drop right in. Cost of rebuild is would probably be less for the 455 vs trying to get 400hp out of a 350.
