Newbie from IL
Hello,
I am happy to have found a website dedicated to Oldsmobiles. I had a 72 442 documented and sold it a while back. One of the stupidest things I have done. I hope to find another 70-72 442 or W31. I would like to find a factory 4 speed driver. I am more of a Pontiac Guy but have always loved the 442's. When I was in grade school and High school in the 70's and 80's my friends brother has always had 442's. I loved walking up his driveway and seeing the exhaust tips. I remember one of the cars was a Black with Gold stripes W30. That car burnt up on the highway after going over 100 miles an hour. He couldn't stop it in time to put the fire out and it spread fast I remember being so sad seeing it burnt up. I also remember street racing a Yellow W30 in the mid 1980's I had a 67 GTO Convert with a dualgate and had 3 big guys in the car with the top down. After 100 feet he pulled away from me. My 72 was a 442 Factory 4 speed car. I know the vicinity of where the car might be and was thinking about trying to locate it to see if I could get it back. I am concerned I would pay a lot more than what I sold it for. Thanks for letting me ramble on and listening to my stories. If I remember anything else I will share the story.
Thanks.

Not sure how I forgot to mention this but I drove a 1977 Cutlass Supreme for 9 years all through High school and College. It was bought in 1982 with real low miles. It was turned into a Oldsmobile Dealer in Orland Park IL. The man that owned it was a retired Truck Driver that just went back and forth to the store. It was sky blue on light Blue interior. Not my first color choice I wanted Black but it still smelled like a new car. Another Oldsmobile I would like to have again. I would probably go with a different color this time.

Have you considered a 4spd Rallye 350? This one is available:

The dealer was H. Frank Olds. The owner, Frank Garcia, was a nice guy. The property, at 155th and Harlem, was state of the art when it was built, with a dome over the showroom area. Building has since been razed.

I miss the Olds Dealerships. I would always drive up to the local Dealership in Westchester IL, on 22nd street. I would sit in the 83/84 Hurst Olds and the new 442. The Lightning Rods were really impressive at the time.
