How to get my 73 cutlass supreme close to 375 hp without replacing my #8 heads

I have a 73 supreme im building with the original olds 350 rocket and i really need some advice on how to get it close to 375hp or to make it a head turner at the least and without replacing my #8 heads or go over my $2500 budget.

Well there's always nitrous ............. until it blows. Reality is you have to spend money to replace the necessary parts to make horse power. I'm fairly new here also and don't know a thing about 350 Olds engines .......... but an engine is an engine. You need compression, a good set of heads that have been at least pocket ported with larger valves so it can breath. An intake, carburetor, cam and lifters that match the rest of the engine combo + plus a good ignition system. Also, long tube headers.

If your engine doesn't have a lot of miles on it these suggestions may help. If it has a ton of miles and is basically worn out then don't even bother, it's like anything, you have to have a good foundation to build on. Read some of the small block build threads here and you'll get a few ideas.

For $2500 I don't see any way that is going to happen. CopperCutlass has been the master of getting horsepower out of small blocks. He does his own work and uses lots of used parts. If he says it is impossible then you better move on. Good luck.

$2500 could buy you some rear end gears, transmission work, and some small trinkets will give you a performance improvement. If you want power, you WILL need a good crank, rods, pistons and bearings to start with. What is your planned use of the car ? Highway or town driving ?
