New 1971 Cutlass
Hi, I just picked up our new ( at least new to us, haha) 1971 Cutlass today. We are quite pleased with it. I thought it would be a good idea to get setup on this forum in case we have some questions specific to these cars. I have had old cars like this before but each will have their own little issues I'm sure.
Thanks in advance for all the help!

Ha, I thought I had the pictures in the first time. Here they are. As far as classics go in Winnipeg Manitoba I think we did good. They are very hard to find even in fair shape and they usually want a small fortune for them. This one is in very good condition, claims 58,000 original miles and was at a good price. I have records since new, including warranty papers and manual. The car has always been parked indoors and the second owner never even drove it in the rain, in fact since 2006 has only put less that 6000miles on it. I assume it was the original owners daily driver. There is a $12,000+ receipt for body work and paint from 2015. My main concern with things like this are what is under the paint. Apparently it is not a bondo job. All metal that was rusty was cut out and replaced so that is good news.
Any tips for a new owner of these cars?
Thanks!

NICE car. My sister-in-law lives in Winnepeg, we've been up there a hand full of times over the last 16 years.
As for tips, if you don't have experience on maintenance and tuning of carbs and points-ignition systems, learn how to do all that. Newer cars that require very little "tune-up" maintenance for 50,000+ miles have spoiled us. The nice thing about older cars is that there are no computers to get in your way or go bad.

Luckily I am... or was quite good at this stuff. I haven't had to do much tuning or adjusting for a lot of years. I will brush up on that stuff. I wonder if I still have that timing light.....
For the last few cars it has basically just been routine fluid changes, brakes, filters and other minor repairs here and there. I do agree, no computers makes things easier, and there is so much room to work under the hood which makes things easier too.
