help solve the mystery, what do I have?

Hello all,
I'm trying to determine exactly which version of the Cutlass I have. Based on the VIN 33687 it's a 70 2 dr sports coupe. When I acquired in 1999, car was black but had Rallye 350 decal. I do know the car is supposed to be the sebring yellow, whoever painted it black didn't paint inside door. The thing that's throwing me is the hood extension, instead of rocket it has 442. Understand this could have been replaced but have found pics where it is on some. It looked pretty stock when I got and was in rough shape. Is there any place which version it truly is? Thanks!!!!

Only a 344 car would have came from the factory with 442 emblems. Maybe the hood was added from a 442 and they used the toungue with the emblems also.

And just a heads-up on nomenclature, a body type of 87 would be a holiday coupe, not a sports coupe. The sports coupe is actually a post coupe and would have a body type number of 77.

The VIN and the body plate on the cowl will tell you. Post pictures of both and we can decode for you.

Thanks all, will get pics soon. I was thinking Holiday Coupe but the Rallye decal threw me.

The VIN says the car is a 1970 Cutlass Holiday Coupe (2dr HT). There is no "mystery" about this (unless the VIN has been changed, in which case you have a bigger problem). It's not a 442. It may or may not have been a Rallye 350 - there's no way to know without original paperwork. The most likely explanation is that a prior owner added the questionable parts and decals.
