I am excited to learn more about my new Oldsmobile... I am from Lebanon Missouri... The first question, where is the best place to find original Oldsmobile hubcaps for my new ride?
You have the original caps - I still have mine as well but opted for something a little more glamerous with the spinners. I also had a Goldwater '64 bumper sticker in my trunk when I bought mine.
Looks complete but I'm not sure what the valve is on the hose, possibly going to the heater box? Do you have your BP and VIN information?
The ball valve in the heater hose is -NOT- from the factory. Wonder why it was installed? You might ask the previous owner.
PCV system is not connected. The should be a PCV valve in the cover and hose conneceted to it that runs to the carb or air cleaner.
I talked to the previous owner about the ball valve... He explained to me that he did that to stop hot air from seeping through the floor vents and the dash vents in the summer... He said in the fall just turn the valve and you will have full Heat
The reason why the PCV is not connected is because it's not a stock cleaner... It comes with a stock cleaner and that I plan on restoring and then it will be hooked up
The telltale sign of a 2bbl 394. Does it still have the points? Or changed over to electronic ignition? Honestly I wouldn't do too much to that air cleaner. Not sure you'd ever find another metal stencil. Besides, it's only original once. But it is your car and far be it from me to ever suggest what you should do with your property. I'd be hitting Hwy 5 to Lake of the Ozarks every chance I could get!
Previous owner had a real passion for blue: valve covers, oil fill cap and radiator hose ball connection that I can see. Curious: is the bottle of washer fluid still in place behind the passenger headlights?
It's funny you mention all the blue in the engine... I hated it as soon as I seen it... Believe me it's all going back to normal when I get it first thing... And yes it does still have the glass overflow bottle

Midnight Mist I believe. Same color as my 63 thou it looks brighter in the pictures. Could just be the lighting. The picture of my hub caps above are not the factory ones. The stock set (I still have) are similar design but are a full cap.

Your D88 has the original factory hubcaps and I have a full set of the same cleaned and sealed in a box in my garage. The middle of your hubcap originally had a red painted Rocket emblem - the paint has worn off over the years just like it has on the center emblem on your grill.
Your picture is what was found on the F85/Cutlass setup. Your wheels should be 14".

More interesting information comes from your body plate. Can you provide a photo of that? We're dying to know that color code. If the paint is original color, the code would be WW with a trim code of 997V, 977V or 317V.
