New from Colorado

Spreading my wings a bit ... long time Buick guy, but just bought a very nice 1970 Olds W-31 to keep my 1972 Buick GS company

Doing the typical OCS (old car sh*t) to it ...
  • Several wiring gremlins and knocking them down one by one
  • Pass side Park/Signal Lamp bucket corroded and causing a short (replaced with a repro)
  • Vacuum lines were all crossed up causing delayed trans upshifts
  • Gotta replace the Firestone Wide Oval tires ... looks cool and original, but they drive horribly!
  • In the process of converting it to Rallye Pack gauges ... just got the gauges and senders today and have the dash all apart. This should be COOL!
  • The little valve cover hold downs and springs were missing from the OAI, so trying to figure out how they attach to the valve covers to get that all secured.
  • Verified numbers throughout the car ... block, heads, intake, rear end, trans all are the right parts!
  • Did all sorts of little clean ups and maintenance

Welcome aboard.

Very nice W31 you have there.

The factory OAI air cleaner is attached by springs to these little thingies that bolt to the valve cover each side.

You can see how the springs work in this pic.

Post some pictures when you have a chance

THANKS!

I have the springs and the clips ... looks straight forward, but the pics help a BUNCH!

Looks like I still need to poke wires around in the harness to install the Rally Pack gauges, but I think I have a handle on it here ...

Appreciate it!

Yup! I was really surprised! Probably paid a bit too much for it (I'd guess high retail) but it sure is nice car and rare. I'm a sucker for the GM A Bodies (and the G Bodies).

I also have a Grand National that I ordered new from the factory back in the day. Time for the '72 Buick GS 455 to go to a new home, I think! Need more space!
