New member - 1955 Oldsmobile
I'm Brad and this is my 1955 Oldsmobile. We got the car almost original just about two years ago. We found it south of Houston and it had been a very mild custom since the 60's. On the way home from an event we were rear ended while exiting the freeway and we've since decided to do a few more custom tricks to it. Glad to be here.

To be honest this car is going to be my wifes. I have a few other cars (two 29 Fords and a 47 Plymouth) that keep me busy and after 25 years she deserves something out of all this hot rod stuff.
We intend to change the chrome trim to something straighter along the body that will swoop down just behind the rear wheel. Similar to a 56 Chevy. The upper part of that trim line will be painted in a custom PPG Oxblood. Below that will be black. We're not sure we're going with glossy paint. Probably a satin.
The roof will be black metal flake with a red base. Most likely some panels and maybe lace. Depends on what she wants when we get to that point.
The interior we're still working out. Everything was in great shape except the panels and floors. The seats are fantastic. Probably do the interior in black tuck and roll.
Very simple sound system. Nothing stupid.
She wants AC so I have to work around that. I'll probably rebuild one of my race engines, tone it down, make it a full roller, and give her something stupid reliable with a little bit of umph.

Welcome to Classic Olds.Best of luck on your project. In the"Vintage Section " there's a thread called 54-56 Owners Unite. It includes many mid fifties cars owned by members. We would love to have you add your car there. Mid Fifties are the Best. Larry
