Just bought a rebuilt 455 Olds engine need suggestions to increase HP & torque

Hello all. I purchased a mild rebuilt 455 for my 72 Olds. I have 72 Olds that I have spent the past 12 years restoring. I finally found a rebuilt 455. I am looking to take out the rocket 350 and add this 455 big block. I want to increase the HP and torque on this rebuild. I know the rebuild was with harden seated valves. I am looking to get rid of the stock heads and get aluminum heads. Any recommendation on what to use for heads, carb, intake, cam, tranny (TH400) and anything else. I have brand new MSD system already that has to be installed as well. I would like to stay on pump gas. Any recommendations or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help. Lifetime Olds guy!

Talk to cutlassefi (mark) and he can hook you up on alum heads that should be trouble free, He can also hook you up on a cam and or recommendations. Carb recommendations are all over the map but if you have a quadrajet on your 350, I recommend getting that set up for your 455. Any well built T400 will work, you might check with your local performance trans shops, they are pretty heavy to ship.

Mark is going to want to know what pistons are in your engine. If you want to run a mechanical pump ask what will fit and not have interference with whatever heads you use. In addition you will have to modify some stock accy brackets to fit your aftermarket heads and manifold.

Thank you for your help. How do I contact Mark? I am not sure of the pistons used on the rebuild as I was not the one that did it and guy I bought it from doesn't know. It is a mild. Thanks again.

You can send Mark a PM here.

He cannot supply you with any educated info without knowing more about your engine. All the components have to work together.
