First Post Cutlass SX value
Hello everyone, I am new to the site and excited to purchase my first Oldsmobile. I am in the process of purchasing a 1970 Cutlass SX from a family member of mine that is looking to get rid of it. I am looking to learn as much as I can about this car but this is what I know about it so far. The person I am getting it from is the 3rd owner and he purchased it in 1990, although it has been sitting in his garage for the last twenty years. It has the original 455 2barrel. We had it looked over and were able to drive it temporarily and it ran great. It is currently getting the original gas tank restored. It is all original, numbers matching with 58,000 miles and has all documents of service to go with it. The rear bumper has some rust but the body and everything else is all very clean. The original color was a green with a black vinyl top I believe, but the second owner had it painted white. Now the paint is not in the greatest shape and is flacking in a few places. Also will need new tires.
What we are both trying to figure out is what it is worth currently, since there seems to be not a whole ton of these out there?

Welcome to the site, congrats on your new toy. You can also look at ebays completed listings to see if there have been any sold recently. Others will chime with more knowledge. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Another site to look at for collector car values.
http://www.collectorcarmarket.com/
This site puts the value of a '70 Cutlass Supreme SX with a 455 in running/driving condition (#4) but needing restoration at about $8000 and in "car show" condition (#3) at about $13,000 to $14,000.

That's a nice car to take possession of - congrats.
Bench seat or buckets and console?
Sport mirrors?
Rallye Pack?
Dual Gate shifter?
Any body or underside rust?
Those will all have an impact on the value. I know the SX market pretty well and have followed it for almost 20 years.
