New Member Newhoubl 1942 98 Convertible

Hello- I am new member Brian Newhouse, my first Oldsmobile is a 1942 98 Convertible Coupe, possibly the only one in the USA... believe the green one on Goggle search is now located in South America, anyone know for sure???

My car is currently getting a frame off restoration, need many parts including front fenders, horns, B44 emblem for upper grill, body side SST moldings on the rear fenders and skirt, gravel guards, dash *****, Hydramatic emblems red oval with chrome spear tip ends, drive shaft, emblems on door interior upper panel (looks like an inverted triangle, inner rockers, floor pans... know of any source for these items?

Happy to talk about anything 1942

Thanks Brian

Welcome aboard. X2 on the vintage forum, bunch of good knowledgeable people there. You might look up the thread 46 -48 how many have them ? It's a on going thread that would be as close a match as you will probably find.. Lots of the prewar parts carried over to the early post war era as you probably already know.... Lost in the fifties... Tedd

Welcome to the site... You may be right about having one of the last 42's... I don't recall seeing one in years... I see 37's thru 39's more frequently...

What part of the country/world are you located in? I don't know if the convertible had its own frame back in 1942. But if this will work for you it might save you some time/trouble/money. It showed up on my local Craigslist in Medford Oregon. John

"Complete 1941 Buick Super chassis, all new or rebuilt, Buy everything for the price of the shocks.A lot of parts fit Buick ,Olds, Pontiac ,and Chev, 1941 to 1948. Wheels and tires not included"

Welcome to C.O. I. Had a friend years ago that's mother had and drove a 1942 Olds(Slantback 2dr.) shaped like a Chevrolet Fleetline .He restored it and in the process sent a load of parts to be chromed ,and the chrome shop LOST the 2 Chrome bezels on the side of the hood that had HYDRAMATIC in red. They were never found,so they refunded him $600, but he never found replacements. One place that still list NOS mechanical parts is www.oldsobsolete.com .It may surprise you what they have for '38-'48 model Olds. Also don't forget to look on EBay,they show the floor pans and kick boards ect.

Here is a image like the hood bezels that were never found. Best of luck on your parts Search, Larry

Thanks for the help with possible parts, the rear fender is not correct/ long enough for the 98 model. I just recently found a set of correct 98 two door rear fenders. Appreciate all you guys and your advice/help. Please stay in touch with anything 1942 Oldsmobile.
