New user and old ride - 1959 Olds Dynamic 88
Hey folks!
Reading here since a while and a couple days ago I registered. So I'm new here and I come up with a 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88, almost original.
Some bad spots, some silly wiring issues but all in all a nice ride with an already overhauled motor/trans.
It's the 371 cui in it. No power windows, no a/c. Not too much to mess around with.
I got the historic plate, what german government offers for original cars (30 years minimum) and I can't change too much, need to keep it as original as possible. Even if I would like some wider tires... I probably can't.
Something about myself, I'm a 46 years old self employed. I have a wife, 2 kids, live in northern germanyand make one of my dreams come true with this old american iron. I always liked these full size coupes and I found this one just around the corner at an american car service garage.
Right now I care for electrics, as the ignition has been rubbish, no real power... the shifter linkage has been messed up with lots of play like the th350 linkage looks like.. things like that.
Now with a new pertronix ignition and new wires, new plugs, timing set to factory limits, corrected the vacuum advance to manifold (has been in ported at the Edelbrock, what is wrong here), the motor feels like a different one. Smooth running, power like it should have. Around 300 horses.
Future plans... fresh paint in a couple years. Will be a factory 2 tone. What's white now will be white again, all pink will go to "frost blue".
Now I just hope, that this board will resize the images.
Thanks for this board!
Markus

Thanks.
As far as I know, only 2 of these. The other is a 98 and fully restored. And yes, it's a head turner but as always, the people like it or hate it.
My one has been sold to germany back in '59, brand new and as far as I know, I'm the fourth owner.
Common question over here is... "how much fuel does it use, 30 liters?" My answer is, I don't care, it's a sunday ride.
